DWS dynamic weighing and scanning system
Weighing · Volume Measurement · Barcode Scanning in One Pass

Three-stage structure of induction, weighing and buffering: dynamic weighing, volume measurement and barcode reading are completed in a single pass, with data mapped one-to-one to each parcel. Supports single-scale / dual-scale and top-scan, three-side, five-side and six-side configurations, and connects to wheel divert, cross-belt, Z-type and other sorters.

STRUCTURE

1. Three-section system composition

Induction section → weighing section → buffer section together form a complete identification unit; the downstream sorting equipment determines whether a buffer section is needed.

Induction section 1000→ Weighing section (weighing · barcode scanning · volume measurement)→ Buffer section→ Downstream sorter
  • Induction section:Creates clearance between successive items so that each parcel occupies the scale platform alone — the prerequisite for accurate weighing and code reading.
  • Weighing section:Dynamic weighing, multi-side scanning and 3D volume measurement are completed in a single pass; weight / barcode / volume data correspond one-to-one with each parcel.
  • Buffer section:Re-arranges the identified continuous inflow according to the downstream sorting pace.A buffer section is mandatory when connecting to a wheel divert sorter, and not required when connecting to a cross-belt sorter.
  • Data closed loop:Collected results are archived locally and can be returned to the customer's WMS / ERP; HTTP POST · JSON is supported, traceable and verifiable.
SELECTION

2. Four steps to the configuration

Drive type → scale length → single/dual scale → number of vision sides; four steps define the complete configuration.

  • ① Drive threshold:Single item ≤30 kg uses direct-drive motor rollers; >30 kg uses servo motor drive.
  • ② Scale length:According to L_max = scale length − 250 × line speedChoose the "minimum sufficient" option; the four options are 1000 / 1600 / 1800 / 2000 mm. The shorter the scale, the faster the rhythm — do not lengthen blindly for "safety".
  • ③ Single scale / dual scale:Target throughput >4000 parcels/h: use the dual scale. The dual scale links two sections in series, A (long) + B (short); the passing cycle time is set by the longer A section — for the same length coverage, throughput is about 40% higher, which a longer single scale cannot achieve.
  • ④ Number of scan sides:Determine single-side top-scan / three-side / five-side / six-side by barcode orientation. Six-side = five-side smart camera + bottom 8K line scan (8+1 architecture), specifically for parcels whose barcode orientation is uncertain, such as soft parcels, consolidation bags and mail bags; a front-end centering unit is required to ensure orientation.

3857 (1600) · 3375 (2000) parcels/hThe cycle time is set by the longer A scale section and is independent of the total length
Belt speed1.7 m/s · 2.2 m/sStandard version / high-speed version — two tiers on the same mechanical structure
Vision configurationTop scan / three-side / five-side / six-sideSix-side = five-side smart camera + bottom 8K line scan

※ Throughput is the theoretical value for continuous operation and in practice is affected by parcel saturation, size variation and parcel spacing; final selection is subject to on-site measurement. The detailed configuration table is provided with the proposal.

SCENARIOS

IV. Applicable scenarios

  • E-Commerce Warehousing Outbound:Outbound weighing, scanning and volume measurement are captured in one pass, replacing manual verification, with data fed directly to WMS.
  • Express distribution center:As the identification section before sorting, it provides the dispatch basis for wheel divert / cross-belt / Z-type sorters.
  • Mixed long and short parcels on one line:The dual-scale 1600 balances throughput and length coverage, offering the best value in mixed long/short item lines.
  • Soft parcels and consolidation bags:Six-side scanning is dedicated to soft parcels and mail bags whose barcode orientation is uncertain.
  • Lines that already have a weighing stage:Optional five-side scan code-reading model (no scale), which adds identification capability only.
